King Abdulaziz University, represented by the Faculty of Maritime Studies, and the National Maritime Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration in maritime education, training, and scientific research. The agreement focuses on key areas such as maritime safety, security, and marine environmental management, with the objective of advancing national capabilities and contributing to the localization of the maritime sector in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. The signing took place on Thursday, January 29, 2025, at the University President’s Office.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Faisal Mane Saed Alsaaq, Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies at King Abdulaziz University, and Captain Turki bin Mohammed Alshehri, CEO of the National Maritime Academy.
The agreement seeks to align the efforts of both institutions to establish a robust framework for academic and professional collaboration that serves the Kingdom’s maritime sector.
The MoU aims to foster an interactive academic environment, encompassing knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and the sharing of scientific materials. It further promotes the exchange of expertise and best practices in technical, administrative, and training fields, while encouraging mutual visits among faculty members, researchers, and students.
Key areas of cooperation include exploring the possibility of launching an academic bridging program at King Abdulaziz University, enabling diploma holders in maritime disciplines to complete their bachelor’s degrees. The agreement also includes organizing joint scientific events, such as conferences, seminars, and specialized workshops, at both local and international levels, and facilitating access to the latest shared curricula and educational programs.
